I see the key to a successful counseling as connection. Too often I hear stories from clients feeling like they are unable to relate to their therapist, or feel like their stiff, robotic, or talking to a mirror.
My goal is to meet you where your at, and make therapy more like a conversation, bringing in the awesome parts of your life, the rough stuff, and collaborating to see you succeed! Here are some of my key values/frameworks I hold myself too.
Laugh, Cry, Scream, Smile, whatever you need!
I see counseling as a space for expressing our emotions, the difficult ones and the good ones! There’s nothing wrong with cracking a few jokes or celebrating your achievements with a little dance party.
I’m also not one to withhold my emotions all the time. I think it’s important for us as humans to see each other’s emotions to be validated, challenged, or connect in a stronger way.
Relationships & Collaboration
I believe that relationships are a key factor in our daily functioning, and thus I bring them into our counseling space. It first starts with our relationship, and building a space of safety, intention, and growth!
Beyond that, my approach expands into our greater relationships. For those under 18 years old, I see the integration of family, guardians, and/or trusted adults as crucial to our success, while maintaining a space that honors individual confidentiality.
It’s an incredible thing to grow together, and bringing together your resources, family and those your close to helps achieve so much.
Tailoring counseling to your unique interests, goals, and needs.
Therapy isn’t always a straightforward path, it’s an experience unique to every individual based on their needs, wants, problems, and goals. My goal is to listen and center our sessions based on what you want to work on, while building a space that incorporates the things that make you you.
So if that means you’re a songwriter, bring in a song and share it! A soccer player: lets talk about how things are going with your team, develop mindfulness skills to center ourselves before a game and how they play into your life. A visual artist: lets take some time to express ourselves in session. A gamer: well we have to leave the video games at home, but I’m definitely here for talking about what you’re playing lately.
