Hello there! I’m Griffin Saxon, LCSW (CA#133407)

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, and I spend most of my days working with teens, young adults, and the people who are close to them! Whether its dealing with the anxieties of school and expectations, navigating identity and meaning, building skills to improve relationships with friends, romantic interests, or family, or navigating the impacts of depression, trauma, or panic attacks, I’m here!

Before starting my practice, I spent several years as a psychiatric social worker with LAUSD, where I sat down with students one-on-one, led groups, parent workshops, and even popped into classrooms to provide mental health education. It gave me a front-row seat to the challenges that young people and their families face in their daily lives. (I also got acquainted with the current slang, which I was promptly told by students not to use!)

I received my Master’s degree at Cal State Northridge — right in the middle of the COVID pandemic — where I interned at a community mental health agency for children and families, working with clients to cope and grow during unprecedented times.

I’ve also worked in settings that taught me a lot about resilience: a residential adolescent DBT program, foster care facility, and in special education classrooms. Each of these roles gave me different tools that I now bring into the therapy room to connect with clients.

My current practice incorporates a variety of therapeutic approaches, and I’ve receive training in Trauma Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions-Focused Therapy.

A few fun things about me: I love to spend time running (I coached and ran the LA Marathon with 20 middle school students through the Students Run LA program), I play multiple instruments, write music, and love to spend time with my dog, Maple.
